"84% Charged" Art Exhibition: Redefining Digital Art with Short Video Language The digital art exhibition "84% Charged" will showcase 20 miniature digital art videos, exploring the essence of originality: can fleeting passion lead to permanence, and how do we define the small and the large in art? Art enthusiasts and tech aficionados are invited to engage in this unique exploration of the synergy between art and technology.
"84% Charged" presents all its works within a digital framework, emphasizing the transience and dynamism of digital media, narrative and non-narrative elements, and the questioning and redefinition of traditional art concepts. Each piece is meticulously crafted to utilize the smallest mapping elements of modern technology, expressing an idea, a viewpoint, or an emotional narrative through brief moving images. The exhibition's theme, "84% Charged," represents a permanent state of digital charging. This state provides artists with spiritual and intellectual power, serving as a relentless drive towards completion and realization in the digital age. It reflects the essence of our contemporary experience, where technology is ever-present and continuously evolving, yet never fully realized. This raises the question: if artistic expression disregards technology, can it still be considered art?
Hosted by Ben Pinover, the exhibition features the innovative "App Art" series by artists Sen-Pei Hsia and Zhu Yu. This series includes digital video art created using tools and functionalities of social media platforms, showcasing the artists' ability to transform everyday digital interactions into artistic expressions. The artworks explore themes such as identity, connection, and the ephemeral nature of digital existence.
Ben Pinover states, "We are thrilled to present '84% Charged,' a project that pushes the boundaries of traditional art exhibitions. By leveraging the fluidity and innovation of digital frameworks, the video paintings break away from the fixed mindset of household picture frames. This raises the question of whether it will bring a window of meaning to homes, a direct reflection of my thoughts on art, and we hope viewers will engage with this aspect through audiovisual inquiries."
